Andante Software provides interactive software on CD-ROM (PC format only) to help children from age 7 with music theory. Ideal for beginners on any instrument, including adults.

Andante Software encompasses the three strands of Music, IT and Education. As well as the Crotchet Beat CD-ROMs, the following are currently on offer:

  • Computer workshops on Wed/Thu mornings at The Bridge Cafe, 43 Selwood Road, Frome BA11 3BS. Catering for relative beginners, these 1 hour sessions for 2 or 3 people give the opportunity for almost 1 to 1 tuition on aspects of word processing, use of internet etc, depending on the customer's current needs.   • Courses run through the newly formed Frome Community Education (www.fromecommed.org.uk) - book through the Cheese & Grain, enquiries about these courses 01373 473944:
    • From 20th September a 5 week course, 2 hrs per week, for beginners, particularly those who would like to bring their own laptops. Tuesday mornings 10 - 12.
    • From 1st November a 5 week course for those with a little experience. Again mainly for those who can bring their own laptops. Tuesday mornings 10 - 12.
    • From 21st September a 10 week music course - "Sight Reading for Singers" - for those who can sing, but who would like to improve their ability to read music. Aspects of music theory of particular relevance to singers is taught, with opportunities to put it into practice. Students are also helped to find their way around a keyboard, so that they can pick out their part. Wednesday evenings 7.30pm - 9pm.
